The Midtown Men The Orpheum Theatre - Galesburg Concert reviews
Avenged Sevenfold was beyond amazing.
I waited over four years to see Avenged Sevenfold in concert, and when they were announced to co-headline UPROAR, I knew I had to go. After losing Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan last December, everybody was unsure whether they would continue, but luckily they did. The release of Nightmare was huge, debuting at #1 on the Billboard charts! They get to go up on stage almost every night, play the last music Jimmy made, and share his genius with the world.
The moment it hit me that I was really about to see them was when the black curtain was drawn to cover the stage while they set up Avenged's set. When the curtain opened, you were immediately drawn to a dummy running off the rafters and hanging itself. Then the band burst out with "Nightmare", Matt's voice echoing through the venue. Mike Portnoy did an amazing job on drums, Synyster and Zacky played the guitars perfectly, and Johnny on bass. They went through their songs with ease, leaving everyone in awe. When they got to "So Far Away", the crowd got silent, got their lighters out, and gave Jimmy their attention while the band played the song Synyster wrote for Jimmy. It was a touching moment, with hundreds crying. "God Hates Us" kicked everybody's ass, and the crowd went crazy during "Unholy Confessions". One of the cutest moments was when Matt brought a little boy up onto the stage with them.
Nothing, in my eyes, could ever top the performance they gave, nor any band. Overall.
